Pfizer Vaccination Clinics at Local Schools
In partnership with the Cattaraugus County Health Department and the area schools, STHCS was able to assist with gathering information from each school district in the county on whether their students would be interested in receiving the Pfizer vaccine. As a result of our outreach, the county was able to host several Pfizer vaccination clinics at the area school districts to get the 12-17 age group vaccinated against COVID-19.
My 14-year-old, Jacksen, was excited to hear that the vaccine age range was expanded to include 12-17, which made him able to get his vaccine on Tuesday. He is looking forward to going on a cruise sometime in the future once he completes his series. I want to thank the Olean City School District and Cattaraugus County Health Department for making this opportunity available.
I wanted to thank our “movie stars,” Todd Reisner, Tim Richardson, Brian Wilcox, and Jay Prosser, for filming several videos last month. This has allowed us to create an online course for individuals to become a WREMAC EMS skills preceptor in the Southwestern Region. This course has been made available for individuals who wanted to become a preceptor and update for current preceptors. Thus far, we have had 46 individuals complete the course, and we are receiving great feedback!
Our Oral ET Intubation videos from the preceptor course were featured in the JEMS: Journal of Emergency Medical Services e-newsletter this week. It is great to see that work we are doing in our rural area to improve EMS education is being recognized at the national level. These videos were recorded and edited in-house by our very own Alicia... Great job everyone!
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. Please take time to remember the sacrifices of those who gave their all to protect our country and take a moment to honor those who are still far from home fighting to keep our country safe.
