USDA Distance Learning GrantI'm pleased to announce STHCS has received official notice of release of funds for $218,557 from the USDA Rural Utilities Service's ("RUS") Distance Learning and Telemedicine Loan and Grant Program. This is the fourth round of funding STHCS has received through the USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program administered by the Rural Utilities Service. This federal grant will go toward the purchase, installation, and technical support of Distance learning equipment and expand our current network with four additional sites. Through this grant, equipment will be installed at CAReS, located in Olean, ACASA, located in Wellsville, Alstar Training Center, located in Jamestown, and Town of Oxford Fire Department in Chenango County. We look forward to adding more sites to our distance learning network! SAFE Program UpdatesEarlier this week, I participated in the SAFE Coordinators Meeting held by the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault. During this meeting, SAFE program coordinators from across the state expressed the same frustrations we experienced with the new guidelines that OVS released. As a result of this meeting, I have been able to connect with programs from across the state, and I feel confident that we are heading in the right direction for our SAFE program billing. I want to thank the billing departments and administration at each of our SAFE centers for being helpful during this transition time and to the other SAFE coordinators that have shared their expertise to help our program move forward.
