Safe Kids Southern Tier New York ![]() This week, Sydney, Alicia and I were able to meet with Roxanne Cuebas, our Program Manager at the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York, to discuss the progress of our Safe Kids Coalition. We were happy to share all the work our coalition has been completing to keep kids safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat safety, safe sleep education, and water safety, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries. Some of the events the coalition has been able to host include Summer Safety Trivia, Home Alone Safety Course, Babysitter Training, attending the Olean General Community Fun Day, Safe Summer Bike Helmet Program, Teen Driver's Education at Driver’s Ed classes, Bike Rodeo, and a Diaper Drive. Sydney has been working hard to continue to plan events for the coalition and the upcoming events can be found on our website. We want to thank the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York for giving us the opportunity to have a full time coordinator dedicated to keeping our kids safe. Allegany County COVID-19 Press Briefing![]() On Tuesday, the Allegany County Health Department hosted a COVID-19 Press Briefing in collaboration with Medical Transport Service (MTS) and Jones Memorial Hospital. This press briefing discussed the current COVID-19 statistics in Allegany County and was a plea to the public to be vaccinated. Scott Lanphier, Operations Manager of MTS discussed how the current EMS system in the county is overwhelmed and the EMS providers that serve the community are exhausted. These are sentiments shared by EMS providers all across the state. I hope this press briefing will urge the residents of Allegany County to receive their COVID-19 Vaccine. I also want to share our thanks to all healthcare providers across our catchment for their dedication over the last 20 months Update Link Comments are closed.
