Open Water and Boating Safety Training Our Southern Tier Safe Kids program is offering a virtual training for children and parents on open water and boating safety. Once completed, they are eligible to receive a free U.S. Coast Guard Approved Life Jacket from our program. This training can be completed at Safe Kids Open Water and Boating Safety Training. In addition to the virtual training, Sydney will offer training on open water and boating safety in person at the Olean YMCA to the children in swim lessons from the Friendship School District. Leave Behind Narcan Through our STOPP program, will are able to provide Narcan and training to Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties. In addition, we have partnered with MATTERS Network on the Leave Behind Narcan program. Several EMS agencies in our catchment have joined this program, including ALSTAR, Olean Fire, Salamanca Fire, Seneca EMS, Trans AM, and Gowanda EMS. This program allows participating agencies and EMS personnel to leave behind an NYS-DOH-approved Narcan kit to patients, families, or friends who have overdosed on an opiate and were treated with Narcan. After encountering and managing a patient suspected of suffering from an opioid overdose and the overdose has been reversed with Narcan, a provider will be able to conduct a brief training with the family or friends and leave behind a Narcan kit with loved ones.
