USDA Rural Development VisitOn Tuesday, I was able to host a follow-up to our March visit with Brian S. Murray, NY State Director of USDA Rural Development (RD), Christopher Stewart, Special Projects Coordinator, and Thomas Becker, Area Specialist. Their collective expertise and valuable insights greatly enhanced our discussions and provided us with a more comprehensive understanding of the grant and loan programs offered by the USDA. The primary focus of our gathering was to explore these programs and their potential benefits for our community. I want to thank the members of various community organizations who participated and took the opportunity to learn more about the offerings from USDA. The possibilities that lie ahead are truly exciting, and I'm hopeful that many opportunities for USDA funding will improve our rural community. Cattaraugus County Out of the Darkness WalkI have participated on the planning committee for this year’s Out of the Darkness Walk. Out of the Darkness Walks are happening across the county, bringing together those affected by suicide and their supporters. This event serves as a powerful reminder that with collective effort, we can prevent suicide and ensure that no one must face their struggles alone.
On September 15, 2023, at 6:30, the Cattaraugus County walk will begin at Lincoln Park in Olean. To register for the walk, please visit the registration page at www.afsp.org/cattaraugus. Your participation and support can make a significant impact, helping us spread the message that there is hope and help available for those in need. I also ask for your assistance in sharing information about the walk on your social media platforms. By doing so, you'll play an essential role in raising awareness within our community and beyond.
