CEO Update: April 12, 2024

“Set the Lawn on Fire” 

​Connecting Communities in Action's Victim Services Department and the Southern Tier CAC have united to raise awareness about sexual assault in our community. Throughout April, they're illuminating the lawn with flames to show solidarity with those affected by sexual assault. I'm thankful to everyone at CCA and the CAC for acknowledging Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 

Their goal is not only to increase awareness about the prevalence of sexual assault but also to remind survivors that their inner strength shines brighter than any adversity they face. 

Collaborative work of the many organizations 

I'm excited to share some great news from my recent correspondence with Clara De Sanctis Johnson, the Coordinator of the Overdose Prevention Initiative at the NYSDOH AIDS Institute. Clara was thoroughly impressed with our efforts and the collaborative work of the many organizations involved. Specifically, she commended our distribution of Narcan within the community and highlighted our partnerships with Olean General Hospital, the County Department of Health, Community Services, and the County Jail. Also, she noted our recent EMS Leave-Behind program launch. 

I also want to share my gratitude to our Moving Forward Together coordinator, Jordan Yaros, and to all our dedicated and hard-working partners for driving these initiatives forward. ​
