Engaging in Statewide Health InitiativesThis week, I attended the State EMS Council in Troy, NY, and the Rural Health Council meeting in Albany, NY. Both provided valuable opportunities to connect with colleagues and leaders committed to advancing health and wellness across New York State. The Rural Health Council, established under Public Health Law 236-b, advises the Commissioner of Health on various aspects of rural health care and delivery. This includes assessing the impact of proposed programs, laws, regulations, and reimbursement policies on rural health systems. Director Madden and her dedicated team provide critical insights and advocacy to ensure the unique needs of rural communities are addressed. We are incredibly grateful for their leadership and commitment to supporting rural communities. During the RHC meeting, I had the privilege of hearing Dr. James V. McDonald, Commissioner of Health, share valuable insights and discuss shared goals for enhancing healthcare access and outcomes in rural New York. Workforce development and the importance of recognizing EMS as an essential service were key discussion topics. Additionally, Alicia and I met Eva Gigandet, our program manager for the Large Wellness Grant funded by the NYSDOH Bureau of Health Equity and Community Engagement. These conversations underscored the importance of collaboration and strengthened our commitment to advancing rural health and ensuring equitable care for all New Yorkers. Community Services Board
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, surrounded by loved ones and filled with moments of joy and gratitude. During this season of reflection, I want to express how deeply thankful I am for my own family and for the incredible individuals and organizations I have had the privilege to work with over the years. The commitment, hard work, and support are the foundation of our shared success, and I am truly grateful to be part of such a dedicated and inspiring community. As we approach the upcoming holiday season, I wish you and your families a time filled with peace, happiness, and cherished memories. Mobile Integrated HealthI’m excited to share that we are making great strides in planning our Mobile Integrated Health program! This progress is largely thanks to Jordan’s leadership and the dedication of our two new Program Support Specialists, Lacey Arnold and Lindsey Green. The planning phase of the program was funded by the New York Health Foundation, with additional implementation support provided by the Highmark Western New York Blue Fund and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. At present, we are focused on analyzing needs assessments, gathering data, and ensuring compliance to successfully move the program forward. If you’d like to be a part of this process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
