Many infant deaths are due to accidental suffocation or strangulation from unsafe sleeping environments. As part of our Safe Sleep Initiative, STHCS is working to prevent sudden unexpected infant deaths by spreading the ABCs of Safe Sleep and by serving as a Cribs for Kids® partner organization. Partnership Cribs for Kids® Partnership The Cribs for Kids Program, administered by the Southern Tier Health Care System, is dedicated to providing free Pack ‘N Plays and essential baby safety items to expecting parents and caregivers in Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. Aligned with the mission of Cribs for Kids®, a national organization striving to prevent infant deaths since 1998, our program addresses the tragic reality of 3,500 infants dying suddenly and unexpectedly during sleep each year. The majority of these deaths are preventable, often resulting from accidental suffocation or strangulation due to unsafe sleeping environments. STHCS has established relationships with local hospitals and health-care providers to identify families who are unable to afford a crib to provide a safe sleep environment for their baby. These families are referred to our organization which determines whether or not they qualify to receive a Graco® Pack n’ Play portable crib for their baby. Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Apply Now! Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) - Independent Contractor Job Summary: The primary function of the Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) is to provide initial physical and behavioral assessment, clinical specimens, evidence collection, and intervention for victims of sexual assault. The SAFE assists in coordinating the provision of urgent medical evaluation, follow-up care, and crisis intervention resources. The SAFE also establishes and maintains clinical and legal records and chain of custody. In addition, the SAFE will provide testimony regarding assessment, evidence collection and handling, and documentation of findings in the examination of a victim who presents with the complaint of sexual assault. Education, Training, and Experience: The minimum qualifications include being a registered, certified, or licensed, as appropriate to practice as a nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician in NYS & perform within their statutory scope of practice. Also, having a minimum of one (1) year, full-time clinical post-graduate experience. Successful completion of the Sexual Assault Examiner training program and completion of clinical competence is required. Should possess strong communication skills. Must be a resident of WNY with a willingness to travel and have reliable transportation. Requirements: Current Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner, Physician or Physician Assistant licensed by New York State. Once certified, each SAFE is responsible for maintaining NYSAFE certification as set by NYSDOH. Perform exams and practice as a NYSAFE according to rules and regulations set forth by NYSDOH and STHCS. Attend all classes and complete all preceptorship requirements. Benefits: $300 compensation for each SAFE exam performed. $300 per year toward CME credits. Initial online training costs covered upfront. Certification through NYSDOH as a SANE-A. Southern Tier Health Care System (STHCS) has partnered with Healthy Community Alliance and the New York State Office of Rural Health to provide free health-insurance enrollment services to residents of the Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. This partnership is supported by the NY State of Health Marketplace which was created in response to the Affordable Care Act. Individuals, families and small businesses can explore their health insurance options, find out if they are eligible for tax credits and other financial assistance and enroll in a health plan that best fits their needs. A navigator can answer questions, identify required documentation, and assist with completing all components of the on-line application. Our goal is to help people access the health insurance they need to protect their health and wellness and that of their children and families. Caregiver Navigation New Client Form Providing care for a loved one can seem like an overwhelming task at times. This places new demands on your time and resources and can strain relationships. If you're new to caring for someone, one of the most challenging tasks can be figuring out what resources exist to help care for a loved one. The caregiver navigator at Southern Tier Health Care System can serve as a guide as you search for supports and services to help provide care for your loved one. The caregiver navigator will meet with you to determine what your needs are and will help connect you to existing community resources that can assist you. Southern Tier Health Care System offers free caregiver navigation services to help you identify which resources are best suited for your situation. Frequently asked questions General What does the Caregiver Navigator do? The STHCS Caregiver Navigator will work with you to determine the services you need & what you qualify for. The Caregiver Navigator will research the best options & give you a referral to fulfill the services needed, often saving you hours of research & frustration. What is a Caregiver? A Caregiver is a person who takes care of the needs or concerns of a person with short-term or long-term limitations due to disability, illness, or injury. This includes taking care of yourself. A parent, spouse, child, sibling, friend, or neighbor may also all be considered a Caregiver. What will it cost? The STHCS Caregiver Navigator services are 100% free. Costs for specific services you are referred to will be determined by the organization providing those services, but we will work with you to try to find the most cost-effective options that you are eligible for. What kind of service referrals can I ask for? There is no defined list of what you can ask for, but if you think it would be useful, feel free to talk to our Caregiver Navigator & we will see what we can do. Some examples of services might be finding a home health aide, transportation to appointments, meal delivery, medical supplies, or legal services. Can I ask for myself? Our Facility In April 2017, Southern Tier Health Care System began renovating their new training space at 150 North Union Street, Olean, NY, in the building that many remember as the "Old Sears Building." This project was ten years in the making, and STHCS staff moved into our new home in late November 2017. This new space includes 4 training rooms, an EMS training space, and offices available for lease for not-for-profits. The new building also features a state-of-the-art distance learning training center that allows for training to be broadcast to many satellite sites to access quality education. Office space is available for lease, and 4 training rooms can be reserved for meetings that can accommodate up to 40 people. If you are interested in our space, please contact us.
