  • Cribs For Kids | STHCS

Nav Menu Cribs for Kids Apply now Safe sleep matters for babies. Each year 3,500 infants die suddenly and unexpectedly during sleep time. Sadly, most of these deaths are preventable. Many infant deaths are due to accidental suffocation or strangulation from unsafe sleeping environments. As part of our Safe Sleep Initiative, STHCS is working to prevent sudden unexpected infant deaths by spreading the ABCs of Safe Sleep and by serving as a Cribs for Kids® partner organization. If you are in need of a safe place for your baby to sleep and live in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, or Allegany county, apply now! Thank you to the East Hill Foundation and the Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation, a ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY, for supporting our infant safe sleep initiative! Click here to download the Safe Sleep Posters! Partnership Cribs for Kids® Partnership The Cribs for Kids Program, administered by the Southern Tier Health Care System, is dedicated to providing free Pack ‘N Plays and essential baby safety items to expecting parents and caregivers in Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. Aligned with the mission of Cribs for Kids®, a national organization striving to prevent infant deaths since 1998, our program addresses the tragic reality of 3,500 infants dying suddenly and unexpectedly during sleep each year. The majority of these deaths are preventable, often resulting from accidental suffocation or strangulation due to unsafe sleeping environments. STHCS has established relationships with local hospitals and health-care providers to identify families who are unable to afford a crib to provide a safe sleep environment for their baby. These families are referred to our organization which determines whether or not they qualify to receive a Graco® Pack n’ Play portable crib for their baby.
