Assisting Individuals in CrisisThis week, we were fortunate to host a training session supported by the CARES UP funding initiative, which was secured by Trans Am Ambulance Services. The training spanned two days and focused on the "Assisting Individuals in Crisis" course provided by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF). Bonnie Frazer led the sessions, where participants from Trans Am Ambulance Services, the City of Olean Police, and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department came together to learn. We were pleased to partner with Trans Am to bring this valuable training to our community, using the training space here at STHCS. Board Meeting Highlights: Fiscal Audit PresentationOn Tuesday, we gathered for our quarterly Board of Directors meeting, where Ed Bysiek, CPA, presented the findings from our 2023 external fiscal audit. His assessment painted a positive picture of our financial operations, highlighting our strong internal controls and overall financial position. Ed's deep understanding of our organization's goals, coupled with his clear explanation of financial details, always impresses me. I want to extend my gratitude to Ed and Colleen Ross, our dedicated Bookkeeper, for their hard work. Additionally, I want to commend our committed Board members for their ongoing support and contributions, which are crucial in advancing our mission to enhance healthcare services in the rural communities we serve.
2024 Leadership CattaraugusI'm excited to share that we recently had the honor of hosting the 2024 Leadership Cattaraugus cohort as part of their Health and Medical Services Day. This provided us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the breadth and depth of STHCS's programs to our community. Our dedicated staff went above and beyond, passionately demonstrating our services, ranging from Safe Kids to our Caregiver programs. Their commitment left a lasting impression on our visitors, emphasizing our dedication to community well-being. I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Nate Veno and David Peters from the Olean Fire Department for their support during our practical skills station, which truly underscored the importance of our work. The day was a testament to collaboration, learning, and a shared commitment to advancing healthcare in our region. Community OutreachThis week, our community outreach efforts took center stage as we dedicated our resources to providing hands-only CPR training to all students at Olean High School. This initiative, in accordance with NYS Part 100.2, mandates that every student must be proficient in hands-only CPR and AED use before graduation.
Our collaboration with Olean High School resulted in two days of comprehensive training sessions conducted during their physical education classes. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to our Program Assistant, Brookelinn, for her leadership in ensuring that every OHS student received this vital life-saving training. This endeavor underscores our steadfast commitment to empowering our community with essential skills and nurturing a culture of preparedness and safety. |
