Many of you may know him from his previous position as the Director of Air Medical Operations for Mercy Flight. While there, Don oversaw all the medical staff and was responsible for the day to day operations of the 911 scene and inter-facility responses of the organization. He also has served as a Superintendent/MSgt E-7 for the NY Air National Guard where he provided administrative and operational oversight of Aerospace Medical technicians. We have had the opportunity to work with Don prior to his appointment to this position, and we look forward to collaborating with him in his new role. We are enthusiastic to begin working with him to enhance the development of EMS in the Southwestern Region and look forward to working with Don as our NYSBEMSTS regional rep and are hoping to have him be able to make a visit the Southwestern Region soon. I have been assured that our good friend Ed Mager is not abandoning us… that he will be mentoring Don as he moves into his new role. Southern Tier Health Care System is currently gauging interest in a CLI course in our three county area. If you are interested in becoming a CLI please complete the below survey.

FREE Community-Based Fall Prevention Class in Olean, NY Have you turned down a chance to go out with family or friends because you were concerned about falling? Do you have a fear of falling? If so, A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls is a program for you. The fear of falling can be just as dangerous as falling itself. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in severe physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. Many older adults also experience increased isolation and depression when they limit their interactions with family and friends. A Matter of Balance can help people improve their quality of life and remain independent. A Matter of Balance is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.
