I am deeply honored and humbled to be named New York State's 2024 Community Star. This recognition is not just about me—it reflects the collective passion, dedication, and collaboration of so many who are committed to improving the health and well-being of rural communities. 
I want to sincerely thank our Board of Directors, funders, staff, community partners, and my family. Your steadfast support and shared belief in our mission have made this possible. I am especially grateful to the New York State Office of Rural Health and the Charles D. Cook New York State Rural Health Program for their visionary leadership and commitment to rural health. Their work inspires and empowers organizations like Southern Tier Health Care System to create lasting change. 
This award is a celebration of all of us—our shared efforts and achievements in strengthening rural healthcare. Thank you for this incredible honor. Together, we are building a brighter, healthier future for our communities.

SBU Social Determinants of Health Project 

This week, I had the opportunity to meet with Molly Gipson, Kevin Eberth, and Ben Vitale—health professions students at Saint Bonaventure University—who interviewed me for their project on Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). This project is part of their internship with the Cattaraugus County Health Department. It was a pleasure to share the perspective of a rural health network with these students, and I look forward to seeing their completed project! ​
