Southern Tier Health Care System, in partnership with area school nurses, health providers and day care centers, holds a program titled Signs, Symptoms, and Treatment of Asthma for the Family and Caregiver several times a year in our three-county catchment area. The goal of the program is to increase school attendance and decrease Emergency Room visits and hospitalizations to improve the quality of life for children with Asthma. Additionally, STHCS holds the Asthma Adventures program in area schools to enhance children’s knowledge of Asthma. We also provide Childhood Asthma Education Kits for health care professionals to share with children and their families to empower them to better manage their Asthma.The programs are funded by the Asthma Coalition of Western New York.
