OGH a Top 100 Hospital...
We would like to congratulate Olean General Hospital for being named one of the nation's Top
100 Hospitals for Performance Improvement Leadership by Thomson Reuters, the nation's
leading source of healthcare and analytical intelligence information. OGH attributes the award
to their Board of Directors, physicians, and employees.

Reality Check grant completed
We sent our grant proposal to the NYS Department of Health requesting to remain a lead
agency for the Tobacco Control Program’s Reality Check Youth Action program. The state is
drastically cutting this program next year from more than 40 agencies across the state to 16.
To make our program more competitive, we have proposed to expand our Reality Check
catchment area from Cattaraugus County to include Allegany and Chautauqua counties. I’ll let
you know when we receive notification of the state’s funding selection.

S.A.F.E. program set to begin
The Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (S.A.F.E.) program continues to move forward. We
began our S.A.F.E. partnership with Olean General Hospital on September 1st, 2008.
Additionally through grant funding, we hope to have equipment for a S.A.F.E. program at
Jones Memorial Hospital by the end of the year. I’ll share more information with you as the
program progresses.

Public hearing scheduled for new CAC location
STHCS is moving forward with the new location for its Child Advocacy Center. The City of
Olean Zoning Board approved our variance request. We met with the city’s Planning Board
this week and they scheduled a public hearing on the project for September 8th. As soon as
approval from the Planning Board is received, we will quickly move forward with the final
purchase arrangements and begin renovations. I’ll keep you updated on the project’s
progress.
