Patient Care Simulation Lab

Cathi, Josh and I visited Penn State Behrend last week for a tour of their hi-fidelity patient care
simulation lab. We are in the process of working to set up a training session at the lab for
providers in Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. The patient care simulation lab
will allow providers the opportunity to practice their skills in a more life-like environment.

We also participated in the Western Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee
(WREMAC) meeting last week via teleconference. This was the first time teleconference
technology was used for the meeting. This was the initial step in our endeavor for partaking in
the WREMAC meetings from a distance. WREMAC is incorporating the usage of
teleconferencing in an effort to get more area physicians to participate in the meetings. Our
future goal is to incorporate participation via videoconferencing.

Building skills through free webinars

Dawn and I are participating in a series of free Webinars offered online through the New York
State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Two Webinars regarding searching for funding
sources and writing grant proposals were held last week. This week the Webinars will focus
more on grant management with information on fiscal reporting and how to amend a contract.
We are always looking to build upon our skills and knowledge and are happy to take
advantage of these free training sessions offered through the state.

STHCS welcomes new staff member

I’m happy to announce that Kimberly Bucklin joined STHCS as our executive assistant last
week. She worked as an administrative assistant for 19 years at Eastman Kodak’s Health
Group in Rochester. She attended Bryant and Stratton College. Kim is originally from
Farmersville and recently moved back to the area. She is a wonderful addition to STHCS and
already has helped me immensely.
