CVB grant submitted
We submitted a grant proposal this week to the New York State Crime Victims Board asking for
funding to develop and implement a public information/media campaign about the services
available to sexual assault victims in Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. I want
to thank Olean General Hospital and WCA Hospital, the two Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner
(S.A.F.E.) Centers of Excellence in the area, for their letters of support for the proposal and
their commitment to work with us on the campaign. We look forward to working with them and
other hospitals in our catchment area as our S.A.F.E. in the Southern Tier program becomes
operational later this year.
If funded, the campaign will include television and radio advertising, billboard advertising,
public service announcements, media releases, banners on Web sites, public presentations
and sponsorship and promotions at community events. Our goal is to inform residents about
the services available so they know where they can receive care and assistance in the event
they or someone they know is sexually assaulted. We should be notified this summer
regarding the Crime Victim Board’s funding decision.

Office renovations
The last couple of weeks in the office have been chaotic as all the STHCS offices were
painted. Then this week, new carpet was put down in the main office area. We’ve been told
that they should finish carpeting next week as they have two offices and the hallway leading to
the doorway still to do. We hope to have everything back in order at the office after the
carpeting is done and the trim along the floor is installed. The want to send a BIG THANK-YOU
to the staff for the patience over the past weeks...
