Karen was Honored...

Karen Hill, the director of our Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center, was honored last Friday
at the Crime Victims Conference at Moonwinks in Cuba.  Karen received a plaque for her
dedication and compassion to child abuse victims from the DA’s office. She also received a
certificate of merit from Senator Catharine Young, who was one of the speakers at the event.

The guest speaker was Jeanne Fowler, a woman from Michigan who was severely abused
between the ages of 3 and 18. She travels throughout the United States and Canada sharing
her childhood experiences to try to teach adults what abuse looks like through the eyes of a
child. STHCS co-sponsored the conference with the Allegany County District Attorney’s Office.

Thank You....

I want to thank everyone who purchased chicken dinners and volunteered there time to help
make the Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center’s barbecue on Sunday a success. We had a
beautiful day.  The employees of Five Star Bank were generous and hosted a bake sale to
benefit the CAC during the barbecue. Proceeds from both will be utilized to help fulfill the CAC’
s mission of reducing trauma, promoting justice and fostering healing for child abuse victims in
Allegany and Cattaraugus counties.
