Vanessa is moving on...
I wanted to share with you the departure of Vanessa Benjamin, our Reality Check coordinator.
Today is her last day with STHCS. She has taken a job with Accord Corporation as the Cuba-
Rushford After School Program Manager. Vanessa said this job will allow her to use her health
degree more than she did here. Instead of focusing solely on tobacco, she will provide
education and activities on a variety of topics including obesity and nutrition, bullying, teen
pregnancy and STDs. She hasn’t forgotten the Reality Check program; she plans to partner
with the Allegany County Reality Check coordinator to provide anti-tobacco messages to the
youth.

“STEMS HIPAA & Confidentiality Training”
Last Thursday Cathi and Josh held a “STEMS HIPAA & Confidentiality Training” at the
Crossroads Training Center in Allegany County. The hour-long class was very successful with
35 providers attending! STEMS staff has several similar classes planned throughout the
region for February. The classes are open to all EMS personnel and include:
•PCR Training in Richburg on Feb 9 at 10 a.m.
•PCR Training in Westfield on Febr 13 at 7p.m.
•Aspirin Training in Knapp Creek on Feb 16 at 11 a.m.
•Aspirin, EpiPen and Albuterol for BLS Providers Training at the Crossroads Training
Center in Belmont on Feb 20 at 7p.m.
•PCR Training in Andover on Mar 10 at 7 p.m.
Any agency is welcome to host a class. Anyone interested in scheduling a class should
contact Cathi or Josh at 716-372-0614 or check the website for more information. Cathi and
Josh also are working with the Bureau of EMS to schedule a regional training on the new
quality improvement manual rollout. I’ll share information with you regarding this training when
the details are finalized.

Board of Director's Meeting
I’m looking forward to our Board of Director’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb 12th. Lunch will be
available at 11:45 a.m. and the meeting will start promptly at noon. Dan Harris of HomeCare &
Hospice will discuss the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (P.A.C.E.).
